Welcome to BCT’s new blog

Welcome readers. I’m delighted to see you here.

Why are we using this new platform?

The Basel Children Trust’s (BCT‘s) primary intention in incorporating a blog on its website is to ensure that you can easily access Parenting’s content. As a BCT member, you typically receive the magazine in your inbox at the beginning of each month. And then in an Adobe pdf file. This process seems to work well if you have the time and opportunity to read through the entire pdf document. But not as much when you have smaller chunks of moments or want to file, find, extract or reference pieces of information.

Enter this blog.

Readers can now come and go and bookmark, share, or split the material more efficiently and immediately. Moreover, there is no need to wait for a month. Volunteers that work on the BCT’s editorial team can also publish, process and archive content more conveniently. I’m very grateful to BCT’s web designing team for their painstaking efforts in creating and delivering this platform. Also, to the Co-Chairs and various committee members for lending their support to enable “Project Blog” to get off the ground and move forward.

What can you expect?

On this BCT blog, you can find content that follows Parenting’s usual pattern. Consequently, aside from highlighting past and upcoming events, the editorial team will introduce general themes during the year that may appeal to the BCT community. For the most part, these subjects tend to relate to our lives as parents and expatriates residing in Basel, Switzerland. Additionally, you can look forward to receiving recommendations regarding recipes, places, books, podcasts, etc.

The BCT has been around for almost thirty years, and we have gems in our Google Docs archives. The saved documents do not go back to 1992. Nevertheless, they still include interesting interviews, experts’ opinions, and recorded experiences contributed by various BCT members, partners and friends. Some are still very relevant, while others need some dusting. Consequently, we plan to share our more recently filed materials first while updating the older pieces.

Coming up next: BCT Co-Chair Letter and “From the Archive”.

I hope you will enjoy returning to this blog repeatedly. We have many things lined up for you this month and next. First up, a letter from our Co-Chair, Morgan Hardy, regarding the current year. And then, primarily past articles consistent with our “From the Archive” theme for December 2021 and January 2022. May you gain fresh inspiration if you read them for the first time. Or alternative perspectives if you are revisiting them through this medium.

Until next time –

I wish you a joyful and healthy start for the winter season of 2021/22. Please feel free to drop me a line at leadeditor.bct@gmail.com if you want to chat about the blog’s development, share your thoughts or connect with me.

Best wishes,
