Looking ahead to March, below is a list of notable events.
Please note that several BCT playgroups will take a break during Fasnachtferien or school holidays (from the 28th of February until the 11th of March). You can find all the information regarding each playgroup on the BCT’s Eventbrite page.
BCT events in March you might want to join:
Saturday – 19th: Nature Detective Walk.
From 14.30 to 16.30, at Rünenberg Honigweg. The focus will be on bees and honey—more details about this event, including registration here.
Monday – 21st: Online Workshop: Becoming a Mom.
From 19:30 to 20:30, via Zoom.
The speaker, Dina Pataki, aims to involve attendees in a conversation about the most critical aspects and challenges mothers have to overcome.
Saturday, 26th: JUKIBU & BCT English Story Time.
From 10:30 until 11:00 at the GGG Stadtbibliothek St. Johann.
This activity is suitable for children ages 0-5.
And here are special days in March you might want to note and celebrate.
1/3 – Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday/Pancake Tuesday and Meteorological spring.
3/3 – World Wildlife Day (WWD). The theme in 2022 is “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration”. The celebrations will focus on conserving endangered wild fauna and flora.
7/3 – The Start of Basler Fasnacht or Carnival in Basel Stadt.

8/3 – International Women’s Day #BreakTheBias
14/3 – Pi Day
17/3 – St. Patrick’s Day
18/3 – Global Recycling Day
19/3 – World Sleep Day
20/3 – Hello Astronomical spring!
20/3 – World Frog Day
21/3 – World Poetry Day – UNESCO and World Down Syndrome Day #InclusionMeans
22/3 – World Water Day – Groundwater – making the invisible visible.
23/3 – World Meteorological Day – displays the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services’ contributions towards society’s safety and wellbeing.
25/3 – Tolkien Reading Day
26/3 – 20:30 – Earth Hour – implemented to raise awareness of nature loss and climate change (always on the last Saturday of March).
