From the Editor – July 2022
Dear Readers,
July is here, and so are the summer school holidays.
The past border controls and social distancing situation have shown us how much better we feel when we can move freely and connect with our beloved family and friends.
Some of us are travelling abroad, taking advantage of the long break and the ability to work from anywhere.
Others are staying and likely playing host to loved ones coming from afar.
This month, the blog focuses on making connections, travel and summer.
This topic may likely fit with your current circumstances. Indeed, it does for me.
I’m writing this from the coast of Andalusia, in the South of Spain, reconnecting with members of my “familia política”, some of whom I haven’t seen for years.
We took the less travelled road: an unexpected and sudden “Plan B “to arrive here. It involved a fun family car journey of around two thousand kilometres when a particular company cancelled its flights from Basel to Malaga at the last minute without offering alternatives. Eiks.
Our two-day trip went relatively well.
The children made only minor objections about the car ride being too long. And about the deejay’s decision to insert some of her favourite pop tunes when playing the family’s playlist heavy on punk and metal songs.
Upon arrival, the children leapt into their grandparents’ arms, hugging them tightly while firing questions. How different is this village from Zaragoza (North of Spain)? Where will they sleep here? And more importantly, what is grandma going to prepare for lunch?
¡Olé! Their summer holidays had begun.
I hope you enjoyed a fantastic start to summer and the school holidays.
Happy holidays if you are taking some time off.
Make sure to come back here to check our offerings on July’s topics.
Best wishes,
