How was September for you?
We slowly became accustomed to our back-to-school/work routine.
There was, in the beginning, a lot of running around to be punctual Swiss style (when in Rome). It became easier once we were familiar with the new places and timings. However, the real game changer was the adoption of a visual checklist. Indeed, this technique significantly sped up our process of getting out of the door. The children knew what they had to do, and I nagged less and consequently felt more zen. Check out Karin Waldhauser’s article from last month on this method.
Random yellow and brown leaves are currently littering our hallway.
And multiple acorns are occupying our mantelpiece, dining and kitchen tables. Thanks to the wind and hands that love to collect. The bellwether for “Autumn is here”.
Goodbye, long summer days. Hello, cooler and greyer atmosphere. Indeed, we are now seeking thicker jackets to stay warm, especially in the early mornings. Our “Regenkleidung” are also back in rotation, resurfacing from the depth of the wardrobes. We will need these extra layers for the two weeks of “Herbstferien” – which officially began last Monday.
This month our blog focuses on Autumn, “Herbstferien” (Basel Stadt and Basel Land) and nature.
There is a lot to share from our community regarding these topics—for instance, recommendations on venues for outings, activities and resources. We also have a recap on the BCT’s summer happenings.
I hope you enjoy visiting this site and wish you all a joyous October and start to Autumn.
All the best,
