The BCT (Basel Children’s Trust) is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization that provides community, support, and information to expectant parents and families with young children living in the Basel area: from “bump” to “babe” and “beyond”.
Through our many programs like playgroups, workshops, monthly newsletters and social events the BCT supports members on the incredible journey which is parenting. Founded in 1992 with only 29 members, today we support more than 100 families from around the world with English as the common spoken language. We are a community of international and local families with young children who want to be involved – with other members, with our wider community, and with the surrounding Basel region.

We welcome new volunteers!
Volunteering with the BCT is a wonderful way to make friends, get to know the Basel area, foster a sense of community, and network with others. It can make integrating into Basel and the family community fun and easy. You do not have to be a parent in order to volunteer. We welcome anyone with a bit of free time and enthusiasm for the family community in Basel. For the main volunteer positions shown above we do ask that you commit to a time period of 8 months or longer. If you are interested in volunteering on a short term basis feel free to get in touch about volunteering for special events or other short term tasks.
The BCT is a 100% volunteer run group All our committee members, playgroup coordinators and neighborhood coordinators give their time and energy for free. Without them, the BCT would not exist!
