Playgroups

The BCT organizes regular weekly playgroups for children to attend with their parents.  The BCT playgroups are the perfect place for parents to connect with others, ask and exchange advice, and introduce their child(ren) to new friends.

The Bumps and Babes playgroup is specifically focused for expecting parents and parents of young babies (about 1 year and younger) and provides an excellent social resource for new families.

All BCT playgroups have a focus on open play and are suitable for young children and babies of all ages. Playgroups are free for BCT members. Either parent or caregiver is welcome to bring their child(ren) to BCT playgroups with their membership.  BCT non-members are welcome to 2 free visits per playgroup. After the second free visit we ask that the non-members then join the BCT or pay 5CHF per visit.

We are also understanding if you need to arrive a little later or leave a little early to accommodate your little one’s schedule.

Playgroup Schedule

BCT members attend the Mon., Wed. or Fri. playgroups for free. Non-members are allowed to attend each playgroup 2 times for free to try it out. After the second visit, guests are invited to purchase a BCT membership or pay 5 CHF per visit.

The Tuesday and Thursday playgroups (joint with Ahead with English) feature a once-per-month “Messy Mornings, which cost 5 CHF for members and 10 CHF for non-members. For the other days, BCT members attend for free, while non-members are allowed to attend each playgroup 2 times for free to try it out. After the second visit, guests are invited to purchase a BCT membership or attend only on “Messy Mornings”. See the Eventbrite playgroup description for more information.

Neighbourhood Groups

The BCT organizes neighborhood groups for the major areas of Basel.  These groups may include occasional or regular neighborhood meet-ups and/or message groups where parents can exchange local tips and recommendations. Join the BCT and get connected with other English speaking families in your area.

Expecting Parents

The BCT organizes a weekly Bumps and Babes playgroup for expecting parents and parents of young babies.  The Bumps and Babes group is a hub for new/expecting parents to ask and exchange advice, connect with others, and introduce their baby to their very first friends!

The BCT also occasionally organizes workshops at the Bumps and Babes playgroup in addition to the regular online workshops for all BCT members.  The workshops at the Bumps and Babes playgroup are targeted for new/expecting parents.  The regular online workshops also address a wide variety of topics relevant to parenting both young children and babies.

Below are a few additional helpful resources for new/expecting parents:

Mignon helps families in Basel, around Alsace and across Switzerland to find their way in happy, confident parenting with their sweet babies. Mignon Baby provides prenatal education and support, baby sling courses, help and information with cloth nappies/diapers, postnatal support and information.

The BCT is proud to regularly collaborate with Mignon Baby.  BCT members are eligible to trial a class with Mignon Baby free of charge.
