Open Volunteer Roles
We're looking for you!
Volunteering with the BCT is a wonderful way to make friends, get to know the Basel area, foster a sense of community, and network with others. It can make integrating into Basel and the family community fun and easy. You do not have to be a parent in order to volunteer. We welcome anyone with a bit of free time and enthusiasm for the family community in Basel. For the main volunteer positions shown below we do ask that you commit to a time period of 8 months or longer. If you are interested in volunteering on a short term basis feel free to get in touch about volunteering for special events or other short term tasks.
At Basel Children’s Trust, all positions are voluntary and unpaid. We deeply value the generosity and kindness of our volunteers, who give their time and energy to help strengthen our community. Through their dedication, we are able to continue offering support and programs for children and families in Basel. The roles require maximum a few hours per week including monthly online zoom meetings.
As the contact point between outside advertisers and BCT leadership, this role is key to fostering relationships and securing sponsorships for our events. You’ll be responsible for recruiting new sponsors and partners to help support our initiatives. The Publicity Director helps keep our outreach efforts fun and engaging by managing the publicity action plan and making sure we’re always connecting with the community. You’ll get to build great relationships with local businesses, organizations, and the amazing families who support Basel Children’s Trust. The Nature Detective Coordinator manages the monthly Nature Detective Walks of the BCT. This role is essential to provide regular outdoor encounters for member families with children of all ages. For more information, please contact chair@baselchildrenstrust.ch
Neighborhood Coordinators help bring members together by fostering connections and communication within their neighborhood. As a Playgroup Leader, you’ll be responsible for running a weekly playgroup (Wednesday morning) run in partnership with Sunshine Little Learners. You will be responsible for welcoming new members and fostering community within the playgroup. Moreover, you will be the contact point between SSL and BCT Team. Once you have contacted the BCT, you will be given information on what roles are currently available, as well as the overview of the roles. From there, you will easily be able to see which role best suits your skill-set and availability.
No, all you need to have is some spare time, dedication, and a sense of community! We welcome volunteers with or without children. There is a place for everyone at the BCT.
We are an international community! You don’t need to be a native English speaker, but all of our meetings, playgroups and events are conducted in English. Therefore volunteers just need to have a level of English that enables volunteers to communicate with each other and potentially with members and business partners.
This varies greatly depending on the role. It could be anywhere from 8 hours a week to 2 hours a month, depending on your involvement and your role.
