BCT Halloween Party – Past Event

Halloween came a few days early for the BCT when, on the 29th of October, 150 parents and children came together. The International School Basel, ISB  in Aesch hosted and Ahead with English sponsored the event, celebrating all things ghoulish and ghastly.

Robin Hood, the Hulk, unicorns, witches, pirates, princesses, and pumpkins joined in the fun – to name a few.

Best dressed went to the Addams Family, whose entire clan came dressed to impress.

Ghouls just want to have fun.

First up, the kids fulfilled several ghostly challenges to fill up their sticker sheets and win prizes.

Kids of all ages took their chances with games that included playing skittles, knocking down tin cans or throwing bean bags into the pumpkins. They also did the “Hoop the Hoop”, which involved spinning a hoop over a cat’s head.

Lastly, the kids could go fishing, collecting three fish to earn their stickers.

The brave ones could place their hands inside a box and guess its contents by touch alone—quite the popular attraction judging by the queue. Furthermore, there were prizes at the Poke-the-Pumpkin stand, with instant wins to make the kids happy.

Fab-BOO-lous.

Craftier kids could decorate zombie Halloween lanterns or make monster faces with triple eyes. Additionally, there were colouring-in templates and a sticker jigsaw puzzle—all designed to keep the kids entertained before the sugar rush kicked in.

Like at recent BCT events, outstanding face painters comprising younger BCT volunteers worked hard to create masterpieces.

All this was before the spooky parade began.

The children played follow the leader around the playground showcasing all the fantastic costumes before the madness of trick or treating could begin. All were well-behaved and followed all the instructions – amazing what the promise of sweets can do.

It’s all about the candy.

No Halloween party would be complete without trick or treating.

Thanks to all the fantastic parents, the party-goers could collect treats – no tricks here.

Adults got inventive in containers bringing suitcases, trunks, cauldrons and bags brimming with chocolates, stickers, apples, biscuits and sweets.

Afterwards, to burn off excess energy and all that sugar, the kids took advantage of the excellent facilities at the ISB, which included a fantastic playground and racing track.

After two hours of fun, the kids cashed in their stickers on the way out to take away their little goodie bag – the bubbles were a particular hit with my little one.

Thank you, and see you soon.

Thank you to all the BCT members and volunteers who supported and made the Halloween Party a huge success.

See you all at BCT’s annual Holiday Party. It will take place on the 3rd of December, celebrating our community’s International holidays.

Fancy dress is optional, and any volunteers to share your culture are welcome.
